In my household, in order for me to peacefully drink something or eat my food I need to hide, like literally HIDE from the spying eyes of my children.
Yes I love eating dinner with them but it always seems that whatever is in my plate is more appetizing than theirs… even if it’s the same thing!
They don’t ever seem to do this to Dara, where he luxuriously eats his dinner in peace (yup I’m jealous) and I never seem to catch a break.
I have now made a new rule that no kid is allowed to sit in my lap while I am eating or they’re eating.
Once we’re done, then sure of course.
Even with that, I usually have to worry about one trying to hop on chairs, one wanting to feed me, and one pulling at me and trying to unzip my sweatshirt while shoving my head up and telling me ‘chin up mamma’.
Let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to hide out to try and get some peaceful little moments of food.
With this being September 1st and all, and the month being promoted as self-care September, let’s all try and take some time out of our day to enjoy the little moments. Whether it be a peaceful cup of cocoa before the kids wake up or just going pee in peace (you mamma’s know what I’m talking about).
I’m including one of my favourite hot drink recipes below. I try to enjoy this by myself as hot stuff should not be drunk around 3 little monkeys – at least while it’s hot anyways.
Post in the comments below about what you do to escape the chaos and enjoy your little moment.
