In this blog, let me share with you some of the most helpful DIY cleaning recipes that I’ve been effectively using to reduce the toxic load of our home. Undoubtedly, essential oils can be used as home cleaners.

I want to get you inspired to make your own homemade natural and safe cleaners through essential oils. Definitely, it’s time to avoid purchasing store-bought cleaners because they tend to be full of chemicals that is quite harmful to your family’s health and to the environment.
The natural home cleaner recipes I’m about to give with you are just as effective and much safer.Therefore, keep on reading to know more about these DIY recipes I’m talking about.
Glass and Mirror Cleaner
My first natural home cleaner recipe is a Glass Spray Cleaner which is ideal especially for wiping down glass surfaces or glass windows or doors that needs day-to-day cleaning. Indeed, this DIY essential oil glass cleanser is easy, reasonably priced, eco-friendly, and most especially doesn’t include harsh chemicals.
Glass and Mirror Cleaner Ingredients:
- 16-ounce spray bottle
- 1 ½ cup white vinegar
- 8 drops of your citrus oil of choice
- ½ cup distilled water
Suggested Essential oils:
- Lemon
- Lime
- Grapefruit
- Wild Orange
- Citrus Bliss
4 Easy Step Instructions:
- Add vinegar, water, along with essential oil in the spray bottle
- At this time, shake the mixture well.
- Afterwards, spray to the dirty glass.
- Finally, clean using microfiber cloth or glass cleaner wiper.
All-Purpose Spray Cleaner
Using doTerra’s essential oils to create an All-Purpose cleaning spray is my best recommendation for you. Why so? It’s because it’s purely safe and you don’t need any rubber gloves or face mask when you clean your home. Absolutely, there is no need to pull out your rubber gloves and surgical masks when you clean your home. This useful spray is perfect for cleaning hard surfaces in the dining, kitchen, bathroom, etc.
All-Purpose Spray Cleaner Ingredients:
- ¼ cup white vinegar
- 1 ¾ cups water
- 30 drops doTERRA essential oils
Recommended essential oil combinations:
- 15 drops each of Lavender and Lemon
- 10 drops each of Eucalyptus, Peppermint, and Wild Orange
- 30 drops doTERRA On Guard®
- 15 drops each of Grapefruit and doTERRA On Guard
3 Easy Step Instructions:
- Firstly, add all ingredients to your 16 ounce spray bottle.
- After combining all ingredients make sure to shake the bottle carefully.
- Lastly, feel free to spritz on surfaces and wipe clean with cloth.
Lemon Bathroom Scrub Cleaner
Last but not least, you can’t forget about your bathroom! You’d be distressed at how dirty they can get over time – especially with three little ones that love to play! In addition, this scrub cleaner is perfect to help remove sticky stains, and dirt in your bathroom tiles.
Cleaning a bathroom is not an experience most people look forward to very often but I totally suggest you clean it once or twice a week.
This last DIY natural home cleaner recipe I’m going to give you will make your task of cleaning the bathroom a little easier to handle.
Lemon Bathroom Scrub Cleaner Ingredients:
- ¾ rounded cup baking soda
- 1 tablespoon water
- ¼ cup unscented liquid castile soap
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 5–10 drops Lemon oil
5 Easy Step Instructions:
- In bowl, first combine baking soda and castile soap.
- Secondly, simply add water and continuously stir.
- And then add vinegar and essential oil and stir again until the consistency turns into a soft paste.
- After mixing, store in airtight container and it’s enough for two to four applications.
- Importantly, on how to use just apply it to the dirty area and let it sit for 10 minutes and scrub. Later on take a wet cloth and wipe clean.
Furthermore, this natural home cleaner scrub is also great to use when cleaning your kitchen sink or refrigerator.
