Big question: Are You In A Mental Prison?
How many of us just go about our day to day lives and wonder where the days, months and years have gone? I’ve been there and I still struggle with trying to diversify myself physically and mentally. Why should we narrow our focus on only one or two things when there is a whole world of opportunity out there.
Take for example when you go to the gym – you don’t only work out your arms everyday all day, you switch it up. You do arms one day, legs another, core another, etc. So why not do the same with your mental state? Exercise it before you lose it.
For a lot of people in the workforce, as they get advanced in their careers they compartmentalize themselves. Whether it be a ‘niche’ they’ve created, or an ‘area of expertise’, or a ‘field specialist’ – these are all things that narrow a persons focus. Why follow the social perceptions of manipulation to only do one field of work or focus on one thing your whole life? Get out there and do more!
Media plays a big role in projecting a false image about how and what we should be focusing on, but it’s up to us to use our minds and break that trend. Exercise basic common sense, and you’ll find new and additional paths to break out of that mental prison.
Own your future… don’t minimize the opportunity to be your best self. Remember, meaning isn’t created, it’s found.
