What Do You Do With A Sick Kids?

It’s hard to watch kids suffer from sickness or any health diseases. Learn in this post about What We Do with sick kids or How we can help Sick Kids.

So just recently my son, Behzad had a fever, which is pretty rare for him. My first thought was to let him fight it out, so that’s what we did. I knew it was going to be a long night of sleeping beside him and making him as comfortable as possible but isn’t that what we signed up for? What we do with our sick kid?

There were lot’s of sleepy comments coming from him throughout the night… Anyone else experience this? Maybe it’s that I don’t remember his last fever and it could have been before he could talk. It was a lot of ‘not in my city’ (My Magic Met Morphe), ‘Fireman Sam’ and other references. It was definitely hard to watch him suffer but I also knew that his fever was not high enough to justify suppressing his immune system with medication. I did however rub On-Guard (a Doterra essential oil blend) diluted with coconut oil on his feet. The blend contains wild orange peel, clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary. I find that this blend either applied on the bottom of your feet or diffused in your home is amazing when treating fevers and preventing them from spreading to the rest of the family.

Now that B can talk, I listen to him and ask him questions like ‘do your ears hurt?’ and then I can help him treat those things. One thing that I’ve learned is that there is a time and place for medicine and ear infections are one of those.  Having had a ruptured ear drum the night after I delivered my twins, is not something that I would ever want my kids to experience and if I had known the symptoms I definitely would have taken the medication earlier.  I have a high pain threshold and to say I was in tears over the pain was not an understatement.

What do you mom’s or dad’s do when your kids get sick or have a fever?  I’d love to hear from you down below in the comments.

In an upcoming post, I’ll be putting together a list of the top 3 first aid items I never travel without and a list of household first aid essentials, including some natural alternatives.
