One of my favourite restorative poses of all time is legs up the wall. For those that don’t do legs up the wall yoga or know what pose I’m talking about it is exactly as it sounds, you scooch your but as close to the wall as possible and then you put your legs up while your back and head rest on the ground. You should try and hold the pose for at least 5 minutes but 20 or 30 is even better.
Why do it? For those mamma’s out there this pose is amazing to give those tired legs and feet a break as it’s great for circulation. For the pregnant mamma’s this is amazing as it can help with restless leg syndrome and also reduce some of that oh so painful swelling.
In addition to legs up the wall, you can also integrate essential oils in both your yoga practice and daily life where it can provide quite a bit of therapeutic relief. For example, if you’ve been having achy legs, doTERRA’s Deep Blue oil or cream is perfect to rub on your legs to give them a fresh feeling.
I remember when I was pregnant with my twins. By the time the end of the day hit my legs were achy, sore and swollen. I would then do a quick dry brush up my legs along with a drop of pink pepper and lavender essential oil. The pink pepper helped with lymphatic drainage and reducing the swelling. The lavender helped calm and soothe any itchy skin and also smelled like pure relaxation. I highly suggest you give this a try – pregnant or not, it’s the perfect combo.
If you’re new to essential oils and want to try them, send me a message via my contact page. When you’re ready to start purchasing them, go to myDoterra site and I’ll get you started.
If you haven’t tried this yoga yet I suggest you kick those feet up and give it a try!
