Are you Nutty for Milk? Looking for Homemade Milk Recipe for Families?
During my first pregnancy I had reduced my dairy milk intake and started to do a lot more almond milk.
I love the taste of cold unsweetened almond milk and a warm chocolate chip cookie for dunking.
A hot cup of golden milk on a cold day is also great to help with the pregnancy inflammation.
For those of you who have bought milk alternatives, price is not always the issue, but more so the additional ingredients, fillers and thickening agents that are used.
Why add all of those unnecessary ingredients to your body when you can make a batch of healthy homemade nut milk yourself.
I did make almond milk at home for a while using a blender that had a nut milk attachment to it but found that there was a lot of wastage with the pulp and I really didn’t have enough uses to use it up.
Now that I make nut butters at home for sandwiches and dipping, it’s super easy to make up a single serving of almond milk or a big batch for the family.
I use this almond butter or pecan butter recipe as the base of my milk alternatives.
It really makes a mean nut milk where you can take a tablespoon of it, a glass of water and a pinch of salt and blend it up.
If you’re looking for some sweetness feel free to add in a date which also adds some good fiber, or a sweetener of your liking.
Such a good quick and easy alternative to making nut milk without all the mess of dealing with the nut pulp.
Try it out and let me know how you like it?

Almond Milk
- 2 tbsp almond butter
- 2-3 dates (adjust for sweetness) (optional)
- 2 cup water
- Pinch of Himalayan salt
Pit the dates if they have pits in them.
Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blender on high for 30-60 seconds.
Stop the blender to make sure there aren’t any date pieces left.
Blend again for another 20 seconds.
Pour over ice and serve or warm it up with some turmeric and cinnamon for some golden milk.
The milk will store in an air tight jar for 3-4 days in the fridge.
Shake well before consuming.
If you find that the almond milk is too thick for your liking, feel free to reduce it to one tablespoon or add more water.
